If one were to give directions by landmarks, they may use the surf shop called Kona Boys just between Kainaliu and Kealakekua. It’s so distinctive. Many of our visitors have been safely introduced to Kealakekua Bay – and the joy of playing in it by the guys who rent the kayaks.

I love the color of the building and all the signs, toys and safety gear they hang on the porch. I stood across the street and painted on the tailgate of my Element for two sessions – the first to give me something to work on in the studio; the second to specify things I needed to polish off. It’s a fun painting.
