I researched this painting on and around the grounds of the palace on Ali`i Drive in Kailua-Kona. I was amazed how the street sounds disappeared when I stood makai (oceanside) of the palace. It’s one of those places that so many Hawaiians have gathered for so long that it overpowers all else around it.
